The night sky may appear to be nothing but endless darkness with a cascade of shining stars, but it is so much more. Above and around us, we are surrounded by the wonder of the universe—the cosmos—and looking up, we see the constant processes that shape it all. From tiny particles to entire galaxies, stars being born and dying; galaxies are changing; supernovas are exploding; black holes are pulling everything in. In her artwork, Cobie Russell showcases the presence of light and the absence of light—white light against the black void—and the kinetic energy of the cosmos.
