LX

Light has many forms from natural to electric and pure white to prismatic.

Some scientists and artists devote a lifetime to measuring that light – its intensity, luminosity, and diffusion. For the artist, LX is the exploration of light as it connects with a given surface. This series considers what happens on a textural level when light comes into contact with material. LX, primarily works on paper, employs a variety of mediums layered with hard lines and soft spaces. The materials include graphite, gouache, and pastel for their blending and subtle intensities.

The series was begun and completed during a time of intense focus, bright light, and hot days in the summer of 2018.
