Cobie Russell created Coastal as a specific reflection of place. Raised on the coastline of the Atlantic Ocean, she developed a love and respect for large bodies of water. Later travels on the West Coast brought her a new perspective: the Pacific Ocean’s western light and expanses of blue sky and calm water.

Although the forms which structure these canvases are bold and strong, the art is tranquil and secure. Each is a lyrical composition which reflects the ocean’s surface. Coastal is a collection of individual stories in the colors and textures of the moment. Ultimately these works embody and respond to the face upon the waters.
